Green LaMiS – Sustainable Last-Mile Delivery of Social Services
The Green LaMiS project focuses on developing a joint transnational solution for the sustainable provision of social services in last-mile delivery in small and medium-sized cities in Central Europe. Currently, social services are often delivered in an unsustainable and inefficient manner, contributing to increased CO₂ emissions, traffic congestion, and weak connectivity between urban areas and surrounding functional zones where service users reside.
Project Objectives:
- Develop a joint strategy and action plan based on an innovative methodological tool that combines carbon footprint calculation with additional territorial morphology indicators and characteristics of delivered social services.
- Test developed solutions through pilot activities in selected areas, including the Municipality of Klis in Croatia, to assess their effectiveness and scalability.
- Integrate results into urban mobility plans and strengthen stakeholder capacities for sustainable impact.
Project Partners:
The project brings together nine partners from four countries:
- Italy: Fondazione Politecnico di Milano (lead partner), Consorzio Nazionale della Cooperazione Sociale CGM, City of Bergamo.
- Germany: University of Passau – Centouris Department.
- Hungary: Westpannon Regional and Economic Development Public Nonprofit Ltd., City of Szombathely, Institute for Computer Science and Control (SZTAKI).
- Croatia: Eupolis Group, Municipality of Klis.
Funding and Duration:
The total project value is €1,826,265, of which 80% (€1,461,012) is co-financed by the European Union through the Interreg Central Europe program. The project began on June 1, 2024, and will last 30 months, until November 2026.
Activities in the Municipality of Klis:
Within the project, the Municipality of Klis plans to:
- Analysis of the state of CO ₂ consumption in your area.
- Implement pilot activities, including acquiring an electric vehicle for social service operators, aiming to improve the accessibility of social services in rural parts of the municipality.
The Green LaMiS project represents a significant step toward sustainable development and social equity. It aims to improve the quality of life for rural residents through eco-friendly and efficient models for delivering social services.
